Spider- Man Has 5- Movie Storyline In MCUMarvel Studios boss Kevin Feige reveals the current plan is to give Spider- Man a 5- movie storyline in the MCU, alternating between massive Avengers crossover events and his own solo series. After years of fans hoping, Your Friendly Neighborhood is officially part of the mega franchise thanks to an unprecedented agreement between Sony and Marvel. The studios wasted no time in taking full advantage of the perks. Peter Parker made his (technically) first appearance in last year’s Captain America: Civil War and leads a standalone vehicle in the form of this week’s Spider- Man: Homecoming. Tom Holland has earned raves for his interpretation of Peter, and so far the partnership has yielded excellent results. One question at the top of everyone’s mind is how long this will go on, as recently there’s been some confusion over the length of the Sony/Marvel deal and how Sony’s projects like Venom connect to the larger MCU. For his part, Holland has already confirmed he will headline a full trilogy, but he might be getting a little ahead of himself.
Right now, Feige envisions a 5- movie storyline for the iconic character. In an interview with the Toronto Sun, Feige discussed the future plans for Spider- Man in the MCU, revealing how Peter’s journey will progress throughout various installments: “We are looking at a five- movie storyline — Civil War, Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, untitled Avengers, Homecoming 2 — or whatever we end up calling it — as an amazing five- story journey for Peter Parker. In the way that the events of Civil War directly inform the opening of Homecoming and his state of mind as he goes back to high school, so too will the events of the next two Avengers movies as he continues with high school. This original 2. 2- movie arc ends with the untitled Avengers in May of 2. Peter and Spider- Man that usher us into the aftermath and how things proceed from there.”Based on Feige’s wording, it sounds like Spider- Man’s first five appearances in the MCU are going to work together to tell one chapter of his life, beginning with him as a wide- eyed high school sophomore and ending with whatever consequences Infinity War contains.
It’s been said the third Avengers film is going to be the end point for some characters, meaning Peter could lose close friends and allies – which would obviously have a major impact on him moving forward. If the Homecoming sequel is to deal with the aftermath of the fight against Thanos, it only makes sense to conclude this particular arc at that point before moving on to whatever is next.
Of course, this isn’t to say that Homecoming 2 will be the last time audiences see Spider- Man in the MCU. The wall crawler is one of the company’s most popular and marketable characters and is being positioned to serve as one of the franchise’s leading figures in Phase 4.
